ABOUT TORONTO
The Rogers Cup is one of the most anticipated annual tennis events in the world. Played since 1881, its long history is exceeded only by the Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. The men's competition and a women's competition are played in July and August, alternating year-to-year between Toronto and Montreal. The men's competition is an ATP Masters Series event on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tour. The women's competition is a Tier 1 event on the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tour.
In Toronto, the tournament takes place at Rexall Centre, about two kilometers west of the city center on the York University Campus. In addition to the 12,500-seat main venue, Rexall features 11 other small courts next to the stadium.
