ABOUT TORONTO
It doesn't take long to find an antique shop in Toronto. However, there are a few spots that a visitor absolutely must visit. The Toronto Antique Centre on King Street, with more than 25 shops, sells everything from estate jewelry to old signs to Persian rugs. The Sunday Antique Market in the St. Lawrence Market's north building features more than 100 vendors every week. Some of the finest antique stores, however, are on Yonge Street.
For French chairs and decorative mirrors, try At Home (1156 Yonge St.). At Constantine (1110 Yonge St.), the house specialty is hand-painted Fortuny lamps, and if ocean voyages are your thing, stop in at Decorum Decorative Finds (1210 Yonge St.) for a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk. L'Atelier (1224 Yonge St.), with its rare Napoleon III tables and rococo Italian lamps, is as high end as it gets, with most pieces hitting four figures.
