Adding to its reputation as a film festival capitol, each year in May Toronto hosts Inside Out: the Toronto Lesbian and Gay Film and Video Festival. Established in 1991, Inside Out has become Canada's largest gay and lesbian film festival and features more than 285 Canadian and international films and videos by or about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans (LGBT) people.
With more than 30,000 attendees, this widely popular film festival also features panel discussions, directors' talks, the gala Inside Out awards ceremony, and a series of celebratory parties. The festival's venues include the Royal Ontario Museum and the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto's Downtown East.
