Toronto Zoo

Encompassing more than 710 acres of Canada's scenic Rouge Park, the Toronto Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the world. It is populated by an incredibly diverse assortment of animals, with over 5,000 animals and 460 different species within its confines.

Founded in 1974, the zoo has expanded rapidly and is now so large that it has to be divided into four separate, zoogeographic domains: African Safari, Indo-Malaya, Eurasia, and the Americas. Visitors will especially enjoy the Indo-Malayan domain, which is home to a litter of Sumatran tiger cubs and a newborn baby orangutan. The experience doesn't end with just passive observation, though; visitors can stop by Zellers Discovery Zone, which gives children an opportunity to interact with wildlife. Another highlight is the newly opened Gorilla Rainforest, which is the largest indoor habitat for Lowland Gorillas anywhere in the world.

Because it is so huge, guests might worry that transportation will be a problem. Luckily, the zoo has an on-site rapid transit system that will get visitors to their destinations in a speedy fashion. Food isn't a problem, either, as the zoo provides plenty of exotic dining options.
