BATA SHOE MUSEUM

Bata Shoe Museum - Toronto Hotels .com

Bata Shoe Museum

A must-visit destination for all shoe enthusiasts, the Bata Shoe Museum is the only museum in North America dedicated to celebrating footwear. Housed in a grand, four-story building that resembles -- you guessed it! -- a shoebox, the museum traces the history of footwear from its beginning 4,500 years ago.

With over 10,000 shoes in its massive collection, the museum has on display every shoe you could possibly imagine. It is separated into four galleries, with artifacts ranging from Egyptian sandals to modern-day high heels. Everything in the museum has a charming shoe theme, even down to the signage, which is made from cast bronze and shoe leather. After perusing the museum's collection, visitors can drop by the extensive gift shop and treat themselves to shoe-related paraphernalia.

The Bata is open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Monday-Saturday except on Thursday, when open hours extend until 8 p.m.
