Theatre

As the third largest theater center in the English-speaking world, Toronto offers plenty of stage productions. From classics such as Oklahoma to popular newcomers such as Disney's High School Musical, there's something for everyone, with literally hundreds of productions staged throughout the city every year.

For serious theater fans, the Soulpepper Theatre Company brings the plays of Beckett and other twentieth-century greats to life at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts in the Distillery District. The Canon Theatre in has been beautifully restored from its vaudeville and picture palace days, and the extraordinary Royal Alexandra and Princess of Wales Theatres take the center stage of downtown Toronto's Entertainment District, surrounded by major attractions such as the Rogers Centre (formerly known as SkyDome), Roy Thomson Hall, and the CN Tower.

There's even outdoor theater when the weather is right. The Canadian Stage Company presents a Shakespeare production each summer in West End's High Park called "Dream in High Park."
